The debate last night was very different from the one a month ago. Last night we saw the candidates make actual points about plans that they do have for the future while last month we saw a show to create the most amount of views and laughs. The GOP debate was clearly a stage for the candidates to tear each other apart and for candidates to blow matters out of portion to keep the camera on them. Last night we say the candidates make actual thought out points instead of trying to make the other candidates look bad. The reality tv comedy we saw last month is something completely separate from the higher level argument of valid points last night. Instead of a game of what did Trump say about you and how can we make him look more idiotic then he usually does, we say people making educated statements to further themselves and gain favor that way.
The BIG sort, with all these people shifting and moving to places where they feel more aligned with the people around them. People moving to the country to flex their rights and bear their arms and what not. While the latte drinking nay sayers and protester love those urban jungles. Why is this happening you may ask, We LOVE to feel comfortable and that means being around people that agree with us because we really love being told we are right. No one loves to have things thrown in there faces (especially those latte drinkers over there in the jungle). So we just categorize ourselves into safe little niches and make sure we are always agreed with. But wait we are never questioned never forced to think about or defend our ideas. This creates a stagnation of thoughts and does not promote a growth in the populous. This right here folks maybe one of the biggest issues in current America. If people are never given the chance test there ideas under the heat of other beliefs they will never truly understand what it is they believe in or why they should believe in it. This is why I think this could effect our democratic system in a negative way.
So The government wants to watch our every step and make sure we are all healthy and being the good little girls and boys we should be. Well I say that thats ridiculous not only is that way to much power to be placed in the hands of officials but its just a waste of time and resources. If a person in New York wants to drink his body weight in soda then let that person do that. The business that this man buys his soda from makes money from his purchases and then that money is put back into the system. The government has no place to barge in on this mans beverage consumptions or the business profit. The article talked about cost-benefit analysis but does the government actually use that? In this case its clear that they didn’t the man would become sad by his lake of refreshment while the business owners would be losing money no ones happier then before so this law makes no sense in that light. I think that the government needs to look more closely at the lack of regulations on itself rather then impeding the populace more.
In the political arena most are unfamiliar with female candidates and many feel that there are a different set of ideas guiding there intentions. Many female candidates get asked questions based on family and how they feel that it will effect their job. I think that it is socially believed that women have a greater “obligation” to the family. I think that this bleeds over to political positions as well as many other jobs when it shouldn’t. Women have the capability to perform there jobs and have a family just as well as men do. I think it ridiculous that earlier this year when Chelsea Clinton was announced to be pregnant that Hillary's presidential was put in question because she was becoming a grandmother. A male candidate would have never have been questioned about this. I believe that this is just another place were social norms that are antiquated and ill founded in the first place are still present and this needs to change.
The debate that occurred last night was more a shock and awe theater act then an actual debate with real value. Many of the “highlights” of this act were simply the candidates yelling at each other to try and get the most camera time. One of the quotes from Trump is “ First of all Rand Paul shouldn't be on this stage, he has one percent in the polls.” Most of the quotes from the night are like this and are all based on the candidates attacking each other in unsophisticated ways with no evidence or any backing to their claims. These theatrical debates have no purpose but to entertain a culture that thrives on the idiocy of our potential leader while the rest of the world shakes it heads at our ignorance.
I believe that the biggest issue facing our nation is climate change. I believe this because we are doing very little to reverse the effects of it so far and we can see the changes in weather patterns and draught cycles that are a part of it. Donald Trump states that climate change is a hoax. I believe that this is absurd, when one cannot see the evidence presented to him in the simplest of facts and accept that there is something happening to the environment how can he be expected to lead a whole country. Not only did he not state any facts in opposition of climate change he doesn't even continue his argument he ends it there. One question I have for Donald Trump is how do you believe you can lead this country to greatness when you cant even comprehend the issues’s that it is facing?
