the morality of justice and politics
For this project we had to create a op-ed written piece as well as an art piece that represent the main idea of our paper. In preparing for this task we learned about rhetoric and many different moral philosophies. We learned about three different forms of rhetoric: ethos, pathos and logos. These represent credibility, emotional appeal and facts. We learned about a wide range of moral philosophies. From deontology to utilitarianism. In our final product we had to incorporate this things we had studied to create a stronger more persuasive argument.
I have grown throughout this project in many ways. The area of most growth for me was in my decision making. I used to make snap decisions about issues because of my moral ideals. I now know that I should learn more about the topics I am deciding about before stating my ideals. I also learned that all topics have more than a good and bad side, all topics are more than just simple black and white.
I believe that my campaign piece exhibits excellent use of rhetoric skill. I believe that my piece incorporates pathos and ethos well. This is because of the quote placed in the art piece representing ethos and the use of imagery to invoke emotions. I believe that my use of the moral philosophy of my chose was the best part of my paper. I showed my understanding of my philosophy as well as how it applied to the my chosen topic.
If I was allowed one more week to refine my project I would use it to create a better written piece. I am not the strongest writer, I need more time then most to create a stronger written piece. I would work on refining the ideas in my paragraphs as well as the over all flow and grammar of my paper. I would also create a better conclusion that really brought a point to the paper.
