Globalization project
Project reflection
In this project we were asked to research a subject that pertained to globalization. This topic could be about anything that we wanted it to be as long as it was related to globalization. We then spent a week researching the topic that we had chosen. After that we then started to write our op-ed based on the research that we had done and the thesis that we formed after that. This op-ed had to be between 750 and 1000 words. Once we had finished our op-ed we then had to start hand drawing a political cartoon that represented the ideas that were in our op-ed. This is the first I have ever studied globalization. The very first thing that I learned in this project was that globalization is in all of our lives and controlled more than we could ever understand. So knowing this I of course, choose an even more nebulous idea to write about democracy, and how it is affected by globalization. I then spent the next few weeks of my life writing and researching this topic. I have to say that I am very happy with my end product and the ideas shown in it. I also believe that by being exposed to this writing style I have now broadened my writing style repertoire. I have also, become a better artist because of this project through my cartoon drawing. I have changed not only my technique but also how I approach art entirely.
African imperialism: creative historions
Final draft of "the revolt of the people"
For this project I had to create a historical fiction and an art piece to go along with it. We had to research historical events to incorporate into our story. We also had to research the climate in our country to make the story as real as possible.
I believe that I create very good round characters this is because I provide a lot of back story and really make the characters believable. “Don’t be silly, boy, there are no demons here,” Hans replied. With this Hans and Jens began walking to where the other missionaries were.
“In his previous life as a guard at the capital city of Belgium, he was never forced out of town or yelled at.”
I really struggled at creating a story that showed the audience something instead of telling them it. I had issues creating a picture in the reader's mind. “But at the very top of this list was the heat. It was oppressive and it was the first thing he had noticed when he got to the Congo, at least he wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore.”
In my story one main revision I did was to include a part where my main characters back story was more fully given. This improved my story in that it made my character more believable thus easier for the readers to identify with.
I chose to create two art pieces for my challenge extension and write from two different perspectives. I chose to write from two different perspectives because I believed that it would help the reader better understand both sides more wholly.
