Model senate
In this project we were tasked with recreating a Senate session with two mock bills that were written in class. We studied and discussed how senate works and discussed environmental and fiscal issues so we could debate these later. I also did extra research to fill my other role as a lobbyist from an environmental corporation.
Writing reflection
My first goal for writing is to become better at proofreading. This section from my college, “ Waking up at five in the morning on a cold Colorado rocky mountain morning snuggled in my sleeping bag next to my three companions after falling asleep to one of the fiercest wind and rain storms I have ever been a part of.” I had written this and did not check many of the errors in it. It was only through having other people proofread that I was able to fix it. I would like to be able to proofread my own work at a higher level so that I can feel more confident about my first draft when I hand it out for critique. Some of the things I could do to improve this are reading it out loud to myself multiple times and using online grammar checking software.
I would like to also improve my planning process. For all of my pieces of writing I just began to write instead of doing any planning. I believe that if I were to create a plan then the writing portion of the assignment may not be as hard as it is at this point. Some of the things I could do to improve this is to identify a planning style that works well for me and then always use that plan. I could also use annotations if we are writing from a text to help me plan and make this process easier.
One of my biggest issues with writing is procrastination. I believe this is because it does not come to me as easily as other topics. I tend to put off writing assignments till the last possible point. I believe that this is also affecting my proofreading as I am not giving myself enough time to read aloud and make corrections. I also think that if I do not procrastinate that I will be able to be less stressed during the writing process. One thing I could do to improve this is to start working the day that I get the assignment instead of finding ways to put it off. I can also provide myself with incentives to get work done.
In the college essay writing process i believe that I grew the most in the revision process. Many times when it comes to this part I hit a wall and am unable to move forward. But during this process I did not only write three completely essays but also refined my last version more then any other piece of writing. In the first version I said, “ The memories I have from this experience will last forever, the sights I saw and the feeling I had of being up on the top of that mountain at sunrise, but I think most importantly I will never forget what Keenan taught me that day.” I was given feed back that said my whole last paragraph was a little rough and need to be rewritten. Since this was the first sentence of the last paragraph I believed it would be a good place to start. In my final version it says, “ As I was sitting there observing the world take its first breath for the day, I learned a lesson.” While I was writing and revising this piece of writing it was different then most because it was written about a topic that was very important to me. This is what pushed me to refine it and to grow as a writer.

Street law
For this project we were asked to study and apply the 4th amendment to different situations. We had to create a project of some sort wether it be visual or written piece. This project had to relay information to the audience about the topic present in it. To complete this project we had to do research on our topic so that we had a deeper understanding of the topic at hand.
I connected to this project because I am really interested in the topic that i had chosen. I am interested in the basic rights that you have while you are walking down the street because it applies to us all and will help us in the future. I also was invested in this project because of the extra research that I put into the work out side of class. I read the terry v. Ohio case and read what the justices said about there reasoning. I felt that this project although short accomplished a lot.
